As a discipline, Civil Engineering caters for structural Engineering (including buildings and bridges), Water Resources, Environmental Engineering, Roads and Transportation, Soil and Foundation Engineering, Surveying and Photogrammetry (Geodesy).
They cater for the aspects concerning convenience of mankind and the environment.
We also oversee aspects of environmental pollution, control and management to ensure safe environment for the populace. As a Christian University, we are committed to inculcating in the students God fearing aspects to the students to observe at all times the safety and wellbeing of the environment and the utilization of waste – to –wealth concepts in addressing environmental issues. Flooding and erosion problems are rife and ubiquitous and there is urgent need to address them both in our localities and nationality.
The philosophy of the bachelor of engineering in civil engineering degree programme is to
generate quality civil engineers with interest in resolving problems, befalling the development of
Nigeria especially with the construction industry. In addition, graduate civil engineers would be
self-reliant with high moral standards suitable to stand as employers of labour. This programme
will provide the basic training in structural, geotechnic, transportation, highway, water resources,
environmental, construction engineering and management for the award of bachelors in
engineering of civil engineering. This will provide our graduates opportunities of varieties of
government or private employment/job in different engineering tasks such as designing and
construction of roads, bridges, tunnels, buildings, airports, dams, structures, ports, foundation,
water resources and sewage systems, environmental engineering, to mention a few.
The objectives of the Programme B. Eng. Civil Engineering are to:
Minimum duration of engineering programmes to qualify a student for the award of an honours
degree is five academic sessions for candidates admitted via the UTME with Senior Secondary
School Certificate or GCE ‘O’ Level qualifications. They begin from 100 level and conclude at
500 level. While candidates admitted with relevant passes in Mathematics, Physics and
Chemistry at GCE ‘A’ Level, OND or equivalent who enrolled by Direct Entry will spend a
minimum of four academic sessions provided that they satisfy all the other University
matriculation requirements. They begin from 200 level and conclude at 500 level. The maximum
