I would like to send a hearty welcome to each and every one of you to the Department of Computer Science at Benson Idahosa University. It is an honor for me to welcome you to another exciting academic year as the head of this prestigious Department.
In the field of computer science, our department is a thriving center of innovation, learning, and exploration. Our profession has a significant impact on how different industries will develop in the future and how people will interact with one another in this period of rapid technology innovation. The possibilities are boundless in fields like artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data analytics, and software engineering, and our students are at the forefront of these fields.
I want to reassure you as we begin this journey together that our department is committed to creating a supportive learning environment that fosters both academic performance and personal development. Our teachers are committed mentors who are committed to supporting you as you face obstacles and motivating you to achieve new heights. They are not simply subject-matter specialists in their specialties.
Welcome back to all of our returning students. Your attendance here demonstrates your dedication to your studies and your perseverance in pursuing your objectives. A warm welcome to all of our new students. You have just joined a group of people who value inquiry, innovation, and cooperation. We can’t wait to see the incredible contributions you certainly will make. I urge you all to take advantage of the possibilities and resources our department has to offer. Take advantage of the enormous network of professionals and specialists at your disposal by conducting research, taking part in workshops, working on projects together, and so on. Keep in mind that during your time here, you are also developing your abilities, expanding your horizons, and becoming ready to face the future.
Finally, I would want to extend my profound gratitude to our hardworking staff, our understanding
administration, and our illustrious alumni who never cease to motivate us with their successes.

The objectives of the programme are:
1. To produce single honours graduates of Computer Science who can work productively in
supervisory/advisory capacities in industries and other sectors of the economy considered
relevant to the national manpower requirements, needs and concerns. Accordingly, the
programme leans towards Information and Communication Technology application with
relevance in its global requirements.
2. To provide students with the knowledge and skills in computer science needed for their
postgraduate education pursuits.
3. To promote and encourage research in the various areas of computer science and its
applications.
