Objectives

The department prepares students for the award of Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. It directs its efforts towards producing competent professional accountants and financial experts who will be sufficiently equipped with the basic theoretical and practical tools and techniques required for their professional work.

In this regard, we shall give due consideration to the policies and requirements of international and national professional accounting bodies and the National Universities Commission in the pursuit of state-of-the-art education of well-balanced accountants. The programme is learner-friendly to a broad range of academic and training backgrounds.

OBJECTIVES

The objectives of the department are as follows:

1. To contribute to the supply of academic and professional accountants for the Nigerian and international labour markets.
2.  To provide sufficient intellectual motivation for the academically minded student to pursue research and further studies in all branches of accounting.
3. To inculcate in the would be accountant the knowledge, attitudes, ethics, skills, and competence required for successful practice.

In order to achieve these objectives, we encourage and facilitate students’ interaction with the everyday practitioner and other relevant authorities so as to broaden their knowledge, and offer them proper orientation.
